ชิ โร่ อามาดะ ร้อยโทของฝ่ายสหพันธ์ เขาคงจะเป็นแค่ทหารธรรมดาที่คิดแค่จะรบกับข้าศึกด้วยความสมัครใจ ถ้าไม่เพียงแต่เขาได้พบกับเธอ...ไอน่า ซาฮาริน นักบินทดสอบของฝ่ายซีออน เพราะต้องประสพภัยด้วยกันสองคนทำให้พวกเขาเริ่มรู้จักทำความเข้าใจกันและกัน
ชิโร่ได้เข้าประจำกองหน่วยแปด ณ ภูมิภาคเอเซียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ในตำแหน่งผู้นำหน่วยที่ต้องสร้างความมั่นใจ แก่สมาชิกในหน่วยไปพร้อมกับเอาชีวิตรอดในสมรภูมิแห่งนี้ จนกระทั่งการได้พบกันอีกครั้งของชิโร่และไอน่าในฐานะฝ่ายตรงข้าม ทำให้ชิโร่ต้องขึ้นศาลทหารในฐานะต้องสงสัยว่าเป็นสายลับ ชิโร่จึงจำเป็นต้องพิสูจน์ตัวเองอีกครั้งท่ามกลางกระแสของสงครามที่โหมหนัก ขึ้นเรื่อยๆ
